River cruising remains one of my favorite ways to experience Europe. There’s something special about unpacking once and waking up each day in the heart of another historic town, wine region or cultural capital.

Water levels on major European rivers such as the Rhine and Danube naturally fluctuate throughout the year. Recent periods of unusually hot and dry weather have brought those fluctuations into greater focus, particularly during parts of the summer season.
