Long weekend getaway in Whistler

Posted on 08/10/2020 | About Whistler, British Columbia

Summer in Vancouver is usually well spent. It's a small window where we get a chance to escape the rain and enjoy the outdoors. What's even better is when we are a short drive away from magnificent and breath-taking views!

Labour Day weekend is coming and the best time for a getaway. For most people, it's the last hurrah before school starts, or start of new school, new job or living in a new city. Well, what better way to spend it than a getaway to Whistler, BC.

We've come up with some top things you can do and place to check out in Whistler no matter what your vacation priorities are.

Zipline

This is not for the faint of heart...but if you’re up for an ADVENTURE…. Whistler has the longest zipline of all in Canada and USA! It's 7000 ft long (more than 2 km long). It's called 'The sasquatch' for a reason. So, if you are familiar with Downtown Vancouver, it's almost the same as ziplining from Gastown Steam Clock to Westin Bay Shore. That is quite long…

However, if it's your first time and you're not sure if it's for now, not too worry! There are many other alternatives and shorter distances with the same thrill experience.

Peak2Peak Gondola

Whether it's Winter or Summer, this is a must-do in Whistler. The Peak2Peak Gondola links Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. It gives you unlimited access to what Whistler has to offer.

During the summer, enjoy the sightseeing view of forests, lakes and mountains. Then your choice of hiking trails are endless. Whether you are up for a quick hike or trying to beat an all time hiking record, you will not be disappointed.

If you decide to visit during the Winter, there are various winter activities you can do. Whistler Blackcomb is a skiier's playground. It offers over 8,100 acres of snow-covered slopes, 16 alpine bowls and 3 glaciers. If you are a beginner or want to try ski or snowboarding, there are a lot of rentals and lessons available for you.

Whistler Village

If you are missing the city a little or forgot to pack something you need, there are shops in Whistler Village you can check out. Whistler Village has a lot to offer from clothing to cafes. If you need a break from all the fun activities you are doing or you just want to take a leisure stroll, this is the place to be.

If you are staying there for a few days or looking for more things to do:
